Queen of Shadows Cover Reveal!!

It's here! The long awaited book cover for Queen of Shadows (i.e. Throne of Glass Book 4) is finally here!! This blog post will be quite short because I just wanted to take this opportunity to discuss with you guys my thoughts on the covers. And this is a forewarning: for those who haven't read the previous three books, there will be spoilers ahead!

Firstly, the colour scheme for the US cover looks amazing! I'm loving the red and maroon - it really sets an epic tone and atmosphere for the book. To me, the red just screams "danger, vengeance, hatred, anger". Even Celaena's facial expression depicts all these things that the colour represents. Although, I must say I'm kind of disappointed by the UK cover, the lightning sort of blue with the burgundy-ish cape isn't really working for me. But I'll of course still buy this edition because I own the other 4 books in this edition, and you'll never know - it could turn out even better in person.

Secondly, the tagline in the UK cover is just chilling. I feel like this book will be filled with action, now that Celaena has learned to control her Fae abilities. Now that she has gotten so powerful, there is so much potential as to what could happen in this book, vengeance included. I have no doubt in my mind that there will be many characters who lose battles with Celaena, and I think there might even be one or two deaths along the way, because I'm sure Celaena won't just let those who lead to the downfall Terrasen go away unscathed. I can't wait to see what she gets up to in the fourth book!

I've also read Sarah J. Maas' blog post on the fourth book and she has hinted that there will be a few references to the Assassin's Blade (Arobynn's second in command makes an appearance, for example) so I need to get on to rereading that. Also, if you haven't read The Assassin's Blade, then I'm sure now is a better time than any to get onto it.

I won't say much else, because as you guys may know, the covers for this series are in some ways cryptic and vague. But if you want more details and discussions about the covers for QoS, you can head over to Sarah J. Maas' blog post here and read more about it.

I can't wait to see what Celanea gets up to this time (hopefully she gets to reunite with Aedion), what happens to Dorian in the hands of his father, and how Chaol deals with being a traitor to Adarlan after being loyal to the kingdom for so long. I will definitely be preparing myself in the next coming months, rereading The Assassin's Blade and Heir of Fire, and I will be eagerly awaiting the release of Queen of Shadows on the 1st of September.

'Til the next chapter,
Patricia x
